The Best of LiGHT22

Light22 at Business Design Centre London

It’s been some time since the architectural lighting community gathered in the UK, but this week we all met at London’s Business Design Centre to attend the ‘Light22‘ trade show.

The event was an exciting opportunity for us to get up close and personal with a range of leading manufacturers in the industry, who were showcasing their latest lighting products.

No matter how much experience you have, there is always something to learn and this event was no exception.

Here are my take aways:

Orluna LED
Lighting still makes us happy at Orange Lighting!

📌 Quality of Light

Rest assured flattering AND beautifully rendered light is now the norm – using the right products of course. Not just a high CRI but the recipe of white light is being tweaked to ensure the very best of colour rendering is possible, not just in the hero product but througout entire ranges.

📌Evolution of LED

LED Lighting products continue to evolve, maturing nicely into genuinely useful and indispensable tools for interior and exterior design.

Magnetic lighting held into tracks, curved lines of light and track, embedded lighting into walls and ceilings like never before. It’s an exciting time to be using lighting.

📌Miniaturisation of LED

The uses of LED continue to evolve product into the smallest of designs yet retain quality. Tiny LED has been around of a while now, but now they are refined to a greater degree of light quality and glare protection.

📌B-Corp Certification

Proper sustainability and responsible business practices are the new arms race for lighting manufacturing – which can only be a good thing.

The first two UK lighting manufacturers now have B Corp Certification. It’s an accreditation that businesses aspire to achieve as holistic business practice, shaping the culture and business operations to benefit the wider community and environment, which in turn benefits the business and profitability. Win win.

📌Needed in an Emergency

Good decorative lighting that can have on board emergency back up is still rare to find. We have supplied these to many projects over the years. Yes the strips of LED are very evident behind the glass – improvements are being made I’m told.

📌 Colour Tuning

Colour tuning products are now available in the wider market of products – enabling us to create dynamic, creative spaces that can be adapted easily to different scenarios of use or taste. Casambi seems to rule at the moment.

We’re here to help you find and buy the right lighting for your spaces – just ask.
