We joined this awesome project before any first fix electrics for lighting had been installed. This was probably the largest green oak new build project in the UK at the time, using historic carpentry and joinery to fashion a huge building all built by the congregation of this church in the Cambridgeshire town of Isleham. Opened in late 2021.
“The Ark Church, is the largest green oak commercial building in the UK. Since our initial consultation with Andrew it was clear he had a vision for our project. Andrew quickly forwarded us his plans for our building, ideas we could not have imagined ourselves. Andrew then came up with design specifications, helping us at every step with technical support with installation. The results of Andrew’s design and innovation are clear to be seen by all who visit The Ark Church.”

We designed the lighting scheme and supplied the product and controls for all areas except the main meeting hall which utilised specialist audiovisual contractors.
Trimless LED profile subtly integrates into the fabric of the building, allowing the oak frame to remain the star of the show.
We advised on the electrical lighting installation for all areas, from the large reception area, Refectory meeting and dining area, to the many side rooms and external areas. We worked closely with the install team, and advised on the installation of the LED lights, energy-efficient lighting systems, dimming solutions for DALI and mains dim through RAKO controls both wired and wireless. Emergency lighting was advised and supplied throughout.
The church was delighted with their end result which offered them cost savings through the use of energy-efficient lighting, but also a great atmosphere and ambiance to their building. This was achieved through careful consideration of the location of light fittings and using the right type of LED lights for different areas.
It was a pleasure to work on this 4 year project, both seeing our ideas come to life in such an interesting setting, and working with such a welcoming group of people.
